Spatial planning without borders around the MAHHL cities. The idea of the Three Countries Park is born.
In 1993, the vision of establishing a cross-border landscape park as a green heart linking the MAHHL cities of Maastricht, Aachen, Hasselt, Heerlen and Liège was developed within the framework of a cross-border spatial planning initiative of the Benelux Union. Thus, the idea of the Three Countries Park was born.
